So beautiful. So wild. Soča river.
The Soča River is an alpine river and is considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful. Some have also called this river the emerald beauty on account of its colouring. It is 137 km long, originates in Slovenia in Triglav National Park, in the Julian Alps, and flows into the sea in the Gulf of Trieste in Italy.

The Soča River is truly an untamed shrew. If you are at its source in the Trenta Valley, you first observe a shy, small and cute stream that even a few hundred meters lower remains playful as it crosses over the cascades from one pool to another until it then very rapidly gains its strength.
Its voice rises up in tight canyons and gorges, through which it pushes forward and works its way down to lower lying areas where the valley becomes wider.
Regardless of the fact that along its path the river quickly changes its character from that of something wild and untamed to that which is calm and relaxed, its colour remains the same due to the vast quantities of air bubbles along its entire length - emerald river.
Along with its tributaries, it is a natural environment for many animals. Otters choose this as one of their last hunting grounds in the Alps, and for marble trout, this represents the only dwelling place for this otherwise endemic species.
Along the river's route that windingly carves out the valley, Griffon vultures fly over from the periphery wall and are observed by chamois and Alpine mountain sheep.
The river appears like something out of a fairytale. The filmmakers of the tales of Narnia even choose this location as having the most beautiful natural scenery, a place with no equal around the world.
